Ready. Set. Go! The 2026 Legislative Session Begins Monday, January 12. What Do You Care Most About?

If you’re like most Americans, you remain appalled by the staggering Somali daycare scandal in Minnesota, and unfolding in California, Washington, Ohio, and in Maine. Billions and billions were stolen from working taxpayers, for years. While the Trump administration’s Health & Human Services freeze of federal daycare funding is a step in the right direction, no one has been held accountable, no indictments, arrests, or prosecutions. And, once again, congress sits on the sidelines of inaction.

May this taxpayer travesty not be added to the dogpile of lawless deeds that go unpunished (below).

To be sure, we Idahoans will have our own battles to wage against big-gov spending, and the inevitable waste that goes with bulging budgets when the 2026 Idaho legislative session begins on Monday, January 12, at noon.

Idaho’s $58 million deficit this fiscal year and is projected to face between a $600 million and $1 billion budget deficit in fiscal year 2027, which begins July 1. Idaho does not have a revenue problem. It has a spending problem. Watch Idaho Freedom Foundation’s Plan Budget Plan.

Grocery sales tax repeal. On record, the Idaho GOP states it supports a ballot initiative (in November) to repeal the grocery sales tax (6%), but too many fake conservatives voted to keep it in 2025.

Property tax reduction. Homeowners are fed up with seeing their tax dollars continuing to rise in a system that shifts state tax burdens away from high-value industrial properties (like Gobani, Glanbia, and Clif Bar) and onto homeowners. Bottom line: Homeowners pay more while corporations pay less.

Parental choice tax credit. The Idaho Education Association (IEA) will be launching their campaign against the Parental Choice Tax Credit that passed last year. They’ve already filed lawsuits to strip away the tax credits to force Idaho children back into their one-size-fits-all monopoly.

That’s not all, IEA is launching a massive campaign to “primary” every brave lawmaker who stood up for you, like Magic Valley’s own conservative lawmakers (Hostetler, Kohl, Leavitt and Zuiderveld), and replace them with lawmakers who answer to union bosses, not parents.
